Hello, my name is

Ann Nibbs

and my passion is writing.

How It All Began

Almost as soon as I could write my own name, I have been penning short stories and attempted my first novel at the age of thirteen. Needless to say, it wasn't very good!

Undaunted, I persevered and, over the years, went through practically every genre known to the reading world. From horror stories (which frightened the life out of me) to romance, through children's stories and crime, I tried my hand. I also ran the gamut of technology, starting with an Empire Smith Corona portable, then onto a Brother electronic typewriter, Amstrad 9512 word processor and now a PC (with occasional forays onto a laptop).

These days, apart from short stories, my genre is Historical Fiction and I have written novels about the Russian Revolution and the enigmatic Empress Elisabeth of Austria.

And Now

My current project is a novel about Jennie, Lady Randolph Churchill. Here was an American society lady who dared to be different, defy all the rules and whose courage and spirit were passed onto her most famous son - Winston. Her world was a vibrant one, with a brilliant but tragically doomed husband, a circle whose members included Oscar Wilde and Lillie Langtry and whose many lovers included the future King Edward VII.

In My 'Other' Life

I am employed by one of the UK's leading Russell Group Universities and live, with my husband and slightly eccentric tortoiseshell cat, in North West England and North Wales. There has always been at least one cat in my life and you can meet them all on 'Mimi's Page'.

Other passions include (not surprisingly) history, and my husband and I love to visit interesting historical places. In the UK, this means Orkney and Wiltshire (among others). We are also members of a local Amateur Dramatic Society, where I have been known to 'tread the boards', and supporters of local amateur theatre.
